A couple of years ago, Tyler came up with this route that links a whole bunch of cool parts of the valley, surfaces that vary in texture and intensity, views of the upper and lower valley combine with temperatures and temperaments. Then he posted the link on Strava so people can send it, one of the few FKT opportunities around.
We decided its time to tackle it as a group, let’s hope he doesn’t mind, especially since he lives in Fruita now.
Here’s the route, speak up if you don’t have a Strava account and we can get it to you on Ride with GPS or similar.
Bring what you got, which should be a well maintained gravel bike with perfectly suited tires that let you ride pavement, gravel, singletrack and anything else that might be out there. Could be a mountain bike but there’s a fair amount of road involved.
Meet at 8am, let’s try to get rolling by 8:30, Misti will be providing some vehicle support and aid stations but plan on carrying what you need and restocking where you are able.
The beautiful part of this loop is there are loads of bailout points so you can give it your best effort and, if that doesn’t match the challenge, you can make an early turn for home.
While you are expected to ride this on your own, going as a group will let us help each other out as needed with drafting, repairs and sharing of hardships and knowledge. But go at your own pace, even if that means dropping everyone or bringing up the rear, everyone is welcome.
We truly mean that last phrase, everyone can come and test themselves and be supported in their effort.
No cost, just the price of responsibility for yourself and others.
