It’s going to be a strange year.
After the first two weeks of this administration, I think we all have a clearer understanding of what it was like to take that fateful journey on the Titanic. Some will say “of course we were going to hit an iceberg, I saw it coming the whole time.” Others will say, “holy shit, where did that thing come from?” Still others, “there’s no way this ship can go down, it’s built to withstand anything!!!”
But, here we all are.
As I write this, the government institution that my brother has given the last 20 years of his life to, vanished in a weekend. An entire institution and branch of government, gone. Will it be coming back? Or has it sunk beneath the waves, not to be seen again for 100 years? And that’s only one of the many changes afoot.
So, we get to go about our daily routines, pretending that the America we go to sleep in is the same one we wake up to.
In an effort to help manage the chaos, I spent the last week sorting through all of the bike routes I have created, pilfered and discovered over the last few years, wrote up a brief description and listed them on our website. Do me a favor please, click on this link (you too Patrick Fauer) and see if you can make it work. Check them out, load one on your computer and see if the description matches the reality. Tech bro stuff is not my forte, but I wanted to try to make an approachable list that people can plug and play, share with friends coming to the valley and generally help everyone get a little lost and found at the same time. If you find it doesn’t work, please let us know so we can fix it. All the rides/routes are on Strava so if you don’t have an account there it probably won’t work, feel free to suggest a workaround for that.
We got 6 people out on a road ride yesterday in New Castle. It was great, but cold. This Saturday we hope to do it again somewhere, stay tuned here. It doesn’t matter if you are white or brown, what pronouns you use or bike you prefer, know that we love you and want to share time and space with you. If it’s on two wheels, life’s even better.
Cheers
